Weaving craft for kids: Happy Jack O’lanterns!

I did not know that CDs could be recyled into fantastic craft projects until I found a wonderful weaving post at Make it…. a wonderful life. As soon as I saw the colorful wooly CDs I knew that I had to try it out! One old CD and a couple of trys later I came up with these Happy Jack O’lanterns to liven up our store window just in time for Halloween. Circle weaving is really quite easy meaning that even smaller crafters can give this project a try:).

You will need:
Recyled CD/DVD
Orange paper
Glue
Orange Yarn
Black craft foam
Green and brown paper

Let’s get started:
Step 1: Cover the CD/DVD with orange paper and wrap with orange yarn an odd number of times.

Step 2: Tie on another piece of yarn and weave over-under around the circle.

Step 3: Keep weaving, adding more pieces of yarn as needed.

Step 4: Cut out eyes and mouth from black craft foam and glue onto the pumpkin.

Step 5: Cut out stem and leaves from colored paper and glue onto the pumpkin.

We added a string and hung it on the door to the store!

Hugs
Alison
