I have to admit it – I love washi tape but using it is not always easy. You can cover lots of stuff like pens and pencils but how to use it in a more complex crafting projects with kids??? This weekend we learned how to make WASHI TAPE STICKERS! Using this simple technique any image can be converted into a colorful sticker. We are getting ready for our Easter party and needed little bags for our party favors
You will need:
Washi tape
Waxed paper or Parchment paper
Let’s get started:
Step 1: Draw outline of the image to be created as a sticker.
Step 2: Prepare a piece of parchment paper cutting it slightly larger than the image. Create long pleats by folding.
Step 3: Create enough pleats so that more than one will be on the back of the sticker.
Step 4: Place the image on your worksurface, place parchment paper on top of it and then trace the image with a pencil onto the parchment paper.
Step 5: Turn over the parchment paper and cover will pieces of washi tape. Make sure that your washi tapes lies perpendicular to the pleats. It is a good idea to start at the bottom of the image and overlap a the washi tape stips.
Step 6: Turn over and cut out your image.
Step 7: Use the same technique to make different stickers. For example, we made grass for our bunny.
Step 8: Once all your stickers are prepared get ready to use them! Cut the pleat lengthwise.
Step 9: Carefully peel away the parchment paper and apply your sticker to your project.
Step 10: We fringed some green tissue paper and added a sunny yellow bow to complete our party favor bags. Now all we need to do is add some chocolate eggs and we are ready for the party!
We used WASHI TAPE STICKER protocol for an Easter project but the great thing is that it can be used for anything! Your imagination is the limit.
