Running the FunLab Bilingual Summer Camp means that we are always looking for creative projects that are innovative and FUN. The creation of this STRING ART post was aimed of course at introducing lots of vocabulary in English and teaching the kids that household items can be “upcycled” into CRAFT projects. The base of this project is a cork trivet! Add paint, needles and string and you have a recipe for an afternoon of creativity.
You will need:
Round cork trivets
Red acrylic paint
Lamination glue
Pins
String
Hanger
Hot glue gun
Let’s get started:
Step 1: Paint your trivet red and when dry paint with lamination glue.
Step 2: Cut out a simple shape from paper and add pins all around it.
Step 3: In order to add the string, tie one end onto a pin and then start wrapping. For example, with the first color I wrapped every other pin.
Step 4: From the top, your string art should start to take a colorful shape.
Step 5: Add another color, wrapping the pins that had not been wrapped with the first color. I added green so that it would really contrast with the white string.
Step 6: Add additional colors.
Step 7: Glue on a hanger.
Camp season is here!!! Come see what else we have for our 2016 campers.
