Before the summer temperature gets too hot, how about a nature walk? We took our campers at the FunLab Summer Camp through the neighborhood park looking at all the different types of plants and leaves. Back at the workshop center, we pressed them into air dry clay in order to transform our afternoon at the park into a memory that could be taken home!
You will need:
Air dry clay
Leaves
Watercolors
Let’s get started:
Step 1: Roll your clay into a ball. Flatten between two pieces of parchment paper.
Step 2: Place a leaf over the clay and gently roll over with your rolling pin.
Step 3: The leaf should be rolled into the clay.
Step 4: Remove the leaf from the clay and let dry.
Step 5: In order to see the veins in the leaves paint with watercolors.
Add a magnet and you can hang your pressed leaf on the refrigerator!
have fun
