I haven’t written an educational post in a while but I’M BACK! This one combines two of my favorite things excellent toys and smart play. I am always being asked about teaching English to really small children and how to do it besides watching Peppa Pig:). Well, try out learning colours in English using wooden beads by LENA. I opened a bag of wooden beads a couple of weeks ago for a Valentine’s Day post and was amazed by the number of awesome beads in the package. It is literally exploding with different shapes and sizes of 4 different coloured beads. This got me thinking and here we are with my suggestion fo learning colours in English using wooden beads.
Learn colours in English using wooden beads by LENA!
The first thing that we did was create a beading book. I had a bunch of DM 27 round stickers. I did not have all the colours that I needed so we used some markers and white circles to make what was missing!
Then we cut out strips of 21×5 cm pieces of yardstick and punched a hole in the end. These are the pages of our COLOR GUIDE BOOK for learning colours in English using wooden beads by Lena.
We applied the stickers in an increasing level of difficulty. First page – all yellow and slowly we worked our way up to having all the colours on a single page. As your little one strings a bead they need to repeat the colour in English. Yellow, Pink, Red and Orange! If your little one likes this activity you can make the learn colours in English using wooden beads a little more difficult by adding small or big stickers to the page. For example, we added a small red circle followed by a big orange circle. As the child slides the red bead onto the string, have them say SMALL, RED and then BIG, ORANGE for the next bead.
I made a little video tutorial to show how easy it is a to make the color guide book and then how to set up the activity. Let us know if you like our learn colours in English using wooden beads by Lena.
