These joyful WOVEN FLOWERS are great summer craft – you can try it at home or come join our campers at the FunLab summer camp! I made some of these flowers for the store window using colorful paper plates that I found a couple of months ago. It was so easy and fun that I decided to introduce weaving crafts into the FunLab Language through Arts (and Crafts) curriculum that we use during our summer camps. Round and round our campers woven to create their own flowers!
You will need:
Paper plates
Scissors
Yarn
Language development: plate, scissors, cut, petals, hole, through, over, under, yarn, flower
Let’s get started:
Step 1: Cut out an odd number of petals. I cut 11 petals.
Step 2: Poke a hole in the middle of the plate and thread yarn through the hole and between all of the petals.
Step 4: Tie on a piece of yarn.
Step 5: Weave around the circle going over and under.
Step 6: Keep weaving and adding different colors of yarn until the center of the flower has reached the desired size!
Our campers figured it out and make their own versions of our EASY WEAVING FLOWERS.
Happy weaving!
