I never quite know how to use glitter glue. My kids love adding dots (which end up turning into smears) to projects but I always feel that we have been underestimating the full potential for glitter glue. When I found this post at Holiday Crafts and Creations which used white school glue and water colors to make beautiful stained glass hearts for Valentine’s Day, a light bulb went off in my head. How about adapting their protocol and using glitter glue?!!! Takes a little white for the hearts to dry but it was worth the wait!
You will need:
Colored string
White School Glue
Glitter Glue
Waxed paper
Let’s get started:
Step 1: Set up your work place and cover with waxed paper. I drew some heart shapes on a piece of paper and slid under the waxed paper so that it would be easier to make the hearts. Soak the string in white school glue and then lay on waxed paper in heart shapes.
Step 2: Add extra glue at junctions.
Step 3: Fill with glitter glue.
Step 4: Let dry completely (ours took 3 days!).
Step 5: Peal off of waxed paper. We glued on some string to make heart chains and hung in the store windows for our Valentine’s Day display!
Take care
Alison
