The challenge was to transform a boring notebook style agenda into a fashionable and “cool” diary for the first day back to school. My answer: duck tape. No I have not gone crazy. Every year when I go back to the States one of the most important stops during the vacation is the local craft store where I spend hours wandering around looking at all the great craft supplies. This year duck tape was everywhere – in rolls, sheets, patterned or in solid colors – duck tape is the in crafting supply. I just had to purchase a sheet or two. The end result was fun and the perfect final touch to my little girl’s back to school supplies.
You will need:
Notebook
Duck Tape
Let’s get started:
Step 1: Orient the book on the duct tape and mark where you want the binding of the book to fall.
Step 2: Cut the duct tape removing a small piece corresponding with the binding of the book.
Step 3: Peel back the paper backing of the duck tape and place the book so that the previously cut piece aligns with the binding.
Step 4: Fold down the top and bottom. Trim the edges and fold in the side.
The challenge has been completed. Our boring notebook is now ready for school. The best part is that it does not need a cover because the duck tape is plastified.
take care
Alison
